This year marks a milestone I’m incredibly proud of, five years as a fully accredited member of APDO. Becoming part of this professional body was a pivotal moment in my journey as a home organiser, and it continues to shape the way I work with my clients every single day.

APDO, the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers, is the UK’s membership association for decluttering and organising professionals. Founded in 2004, it exists to raise standards within the industry, support professional development, and promote the benefits of living in organised, clutter-free homes. Today, APDO is a thriving community of over 450 members across the UK and internationally.

Why APDO membership matters
For me, APDO membership represents professionalism, credibility, and accountability. As a fully accredited member, I meet clearly defined standards, including holding the appropriate business insurance, being registered with HMRC, and working in line with APDO’s Code of Ethics and standards of practice.
Many of my clients tell me that my APDO membership gave them peace of mind before we even began working together. Inviting someone into your home, often during periods of change, overwhelm, or transition – is a big step. Knowing you’re working with a vetted professional who operates with integrity, discretion, and care can make all the difference.

Investing in learning and growth
My relationship with APDO began in late 2020, when I took part in the Starting a Professional Organising course. That training gave me the practical insights, confidence, and industry knowledge I needed to launch my own business, and from that moment, The Lifestyle Organiser was born.
Since then, APDO has continued to support my professional growth through ongoing training opportunities, mentoring, networking, and industry updates. Being part of such a supportive and forward-thinking community has helped me refine my skills, stay informed, and continually raise the level of service I offer my clients.
Five years on
Five years into business, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many clients as they declutter and organise their homes and lives. From busy family households to individuals seeking calmer, more intentional spaces, I love helping people transform cluttered areas into homes that feel functional, practical, and beautifully organised.

This milestone feels like the perfect moment to reflect, not just on how far I’ve come, but on the trust my clients place in me and the standards I strive to uphold every day.
If you’re considering working with a professional organiser and are based in Suffolk, Cambridge, Essex, or Norfolk, I’d love to hear from you. Whether you need help with one space or your entire home, my aim is always the same: to make homes, and lives, feel lighter, calmer, and easier to manage.
Here’s to five years of professionalism, learning, and beautifully organised homes, and to many more still to come!
