A client’s post-move apartment unpack & organise in Essex!
My client was feeling overwhelmed and exhausted having spent many months renovating her new apartment before finally moving into her new home this summer.
She was downsizing from a larger 2 bedroom home to a smaller one bedroomed apartment within a retirement complex. My client had spend the year before her move, decluttering and selling off her belongings and furniture (those items that wouldn’t fit within her new home). Her friends had helped her pack and had placed all her belongings; food, paperwork & personal memorabilia, including some clothes, into large plastic bags, to try and make the process less stressful and easier. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any plan or consistency when it came to packing and lots of the contents within the bags, become jumbled up!
On the recommendation of another client who I’d worked previously worked with, my client got in touch, so I could help bring some calm to the chaos!
My client booked two 6-hour sessions – so we could unpack and organise her bedroom and living room & kitchen on two different dates.
The process:
The first session we unpacked & organised in her bedroom
My client wanted her bedroom to be set-up correctly from the outset and have her clothes & shoes plus bed linen unpacked and placed in her gorgeous new bespoke wardrobes and large dresser.
We started the process by going through each bag and grouping items together. All memorabilia (photos), paperwork and stationary were corralled together in designated bags and placed in her home office (to be organised in a separate session). Any food and cleaning items were placed in her kitchen.
All clothing has been neatly hung and categorised within her wardrobes, with sports wear/walking clothing and boots/trainers having their own designated section with the wardrobe. All undergarments were neatly folded and placed in her large dresser.
There was one large bag left, full of books, and they’ll be relocated into a brand new bookshelf, which is on order, in my client’s living room!
The project was completed in one session, a total of 6 hours!
The second session we unpacked & organised her living room & kitchen
Before organising and placing her crockery, food and cleaning products within the kitchen cupboards, I gave the insides a wipe down with an anti-bacterial spray. Nothing beats a newly cleaned and fresh kitchen!
All her tea towels and cleaning cloths were neatly file folded in separate drawers underneath the hob.
My client even has a dedicated cupboard for storing all of her cook books too!
As my client is petit, I placed all her items on the lower shelves for easier access. Only her DIY tool box and sewing box etc were placed on 2 narrow shelves above her kitchen sink.
The project was completed in one session, a total of 6 hours!
